Key Responsibilities
The Apprentice Mechanic is responsible for servicing/repairing SOUTHLAND school buses in a safe, efficient, and effective manner. This position is not confined to shop activities as mechanics may be required to perform field work on down buses.
- Ongoing maintenance/repair of buses
- Diagnose equipment problems
- Respond to breakdowns
- Spring and winter maintenance
- Complete all documentation associated with equipment repairs
- Work with shop management to maintain schedules and priorities
- Follow SOUTHLAND procedures and guidelines
Requirements
- Apprentice Automotive Mechanic - 2nd Year
- Clear criminal record
- SOUTHLAND will supply training for qualifications that are required or preferred
- Own hand tools
Remuneration
- Commensurate with experience
- Bi-weekly pay period (every second Friday)
- Employee Benefits Plan (after 3 month probation)
- Annual Tool and Boot Allowance (pro-rated from start date - available in last quarter of the year, and each subsequent year)
